golden

Tomorrow is a very special day- it's my parent's 27th Wedding Anniversary! Twenty-seven years ago tomorrow my parents were sealed for eternity to each other in the Los Angeles Temple! They always told us when we were kids that the sealer told them that their children were watching them in the temple that day, grateful that they were making that covenant with each other and Heavenly Father. I can't tell you what I was thinking then, but I can tell you now, from this end of twenty-four years of being a part of their family, that I am so glad that they did. They have been an amazing example to me throughout my life, and I'm especially grateful that I have their example still. I am trying to model my family after their example of love for each other, for their kids and for the Gospel, but it's not easy. I have some seriously big shoes to fill. They have had some seriously big changes in the last few years- dad's a Bishop of the Singles Ward now and my mom is now a mom to 200+ Singles (and if it was up to them they'd never EVER be released), Mall got married and moved to England, Adam moved to Portland, Spencer just moved back home and Zach is a year away from HS Graduation- but they are still there making it look easy.
Anyway, I just had to say Yay for them! They are amazing and I love them so much.

slow day

just daydreaming about shorts and flip-flops and getting out of the house. AND... making plans for my 25th birthday!!! Okay, so it's still nine months away, but I have a feeling it's going to be a good one. Especially because of a certain film that will be coming out at midnight! HOLLER!

site for sore eyes

When I need custom invitations or Christmas cards or personalized return address labels, I turn to one place: VistaPrint.com. Would you like to know the best part? I get them all for free! Okay, not ENTIRELY free. I do have to pay shipping, but this website is the best. Every week they send me more free offers. No, this stuff isn't essential to everyday life, but I sure have enjoyed making everything from a family caricature note pad for my mom to a super-nerdy Twilight T-shirt for myself all for free through VistaPrint. The following pictures are just a few of the things that I have ordered from them over the past year and a half. I'm already working on the invites for Avery's second birthday party as well as some new business materials for Klayton's property management company. My total so far? $0.00 - or, as my dad would say, free thirty-free.

we surround them

A lot of the time when I turn on the news, I wonder if I am going crazy. There are so many views and ideas and arguments: I just feel like we live in a world and country full of really confused people. And for me this isn't a Bush or Obama or whoever thing- I just am afraid that family values, the belief in God, and the ideas that the Founding Fathers put in place in this country are "going out of style". And I am afraid of the consequences of the path that we are heading down.

If you ever feel like I do, I would encourage you to check out the nine principles. If you agree with at least seven of the nine principles you can email your picture to wesurroundthem@foxnews.com and check out Glenn Beck's live show on the Fox News Network at 5pm ET on March 13th for his special surrounding these principles and values. I'm sorry that I'm always posting stuff about Glenn, but, for me, he is a person who makes me feel hope for the future. Without knowing that I'm not alone in wondering what the heck is going on, I think I'd be hiding money under my mattress.

The Nine Principles
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

adventures with avery

Avery has been going through a "fun" stage lately. Lots of tantrums. Lots of shouting. She's still cute as a button, though, isn't she?
Yesterday we went to Rexburg to play with Elle, Ava and Milo. They all (Milo included!) put on outfits and danced in my sister-in-law's new basement family room! Avery had a blast. We have also been sledding and playing outside a bunch. And Av is way into coloring lately, but mostly her own face.

if you know anything, you know more than i do

i'm so ready for spring!! and i've already got big plans - i'm determined to grow a garden this year! i have a home, i have a yard, i have an unnatural urge to pull weeds and water things: i think i'm ready.

there's only one problem, though. i have never grown anything in my life.

if anyone out there knows anything about gardening, please feel free to offer me your expertise. as long as it's in english, because i've been on a few gardening sites, and i understand dirt, seeds and water and then i'm lost.

out of thin air

I just thought that this was something that everyone should see. Say what you want about Glenn Beck, but you can't make this crap up.
