rock with you

Before I give my vacation report, I must say Happy Father's Day to me pop. It was great to spend the day with him and I love him mucho. Thanks for making me laugh, Dad.

The beach trip this year was amazing. So much fun. I love my family and our extended family! They are the best. And I think that my Grandma Wyand is awesome for putting this trip together for us every year. It's really important to her that all of us get together and I think that's a great goal. It's nice to know all of my aunts and uncles and cousins on my mom's side so well. Anyway... We got to go to the beach for three days of the week, and I think that those days tied with meeting Mickey and Minnie at Disneyland in Av's book. She is such a little fish! I swear, at least three people had to watch her at all times because she would just take off for the ocean! And she loved digging into the sand, too. She got so dirty and thought it was the most fun thing ever. She was everyone's entertainment as well- it was fun just watching her have so much fun.

Going to Disneyland was an amazing day as well. Avery loved every minute. Her favorites were going with Grandma to Toon Town to visit Mickey and Minnie and Goofy's houses. I caught up to my mom and Avery when she was in line to meet Minnie, and as soon as we got up there, she started kissing Minnie on the nose repeatedly! It was hilarious. She rode tons of rides (and got totally spooked on a few- Pirates of the Carribbean and the Finding Nemo submarine ride were the worst offenders), but overall it was a perfect day. My mom took most of the pictures at Disneyland, but here are some of the highlights from my camera.

Klayton and Doug, after planning and plotting all this last year, tackled a few sandcastle masterpieces. I think they are pretty darn amazing.

Our last day in California we went up to L.A. for a Dodger game!! We schooled the Mariners and it was tons of fun. The best part (and dream come true for me- don't laugh) is that after the game we got to GO ONTO THE FIELD to watch a fireworks show. I WALKED ON THE FIELD AT DODGER STADIUM!!!!!! I took of my shoes (sacred ground) and ran around and giggled like a little kid. So did my older brother. And dad. What a great night.

the heavy

I forgot to post about my weight loss competition!! I didn't win the cash, but that wasn't really the point. Okay... it would have been really nice... Anyway, I lost 16 pounds, though!! It was a 6 week competition and it was tons of fun. I've been trying to keep motivated, but when the competition was over we all went out to celebrate... and ate a Peanut Butter Cup Sundae at Leatherby's... and I've also had a Junior Mint or two since it ended... Don't judge me.

girl talk

Went out to dinner with my sisters-in-law tonight and had a blast! Klayton and Troy were on babysitting duty while the four of us went to Craigo's to eat and chat... for two hours! Oops. I love these girls. I'm so lucky to have great in-laws. Thank you Mackenzie for graduating (our excuse to go out and celebrate) and for being so sweet. Thank you Shellena for coming and talking books with me (Peeta is totally going to beat Gale and win Katniss and make lots of bread-making, arrow-shooting babies with her). And thank you Mandy for being the person who is always there to chat, commiserate about shouting obscenities at old ladies on the street, give mommy advice, and laugh with. You girls are the best.

that john Denver is full of crap

Last Friday Klayton came home from work and asked what we were doing that night. I wanted to take advantage of his last Saturday off in who knows how long, and told him that we should go on a trip. That was all it took to get K to pull out his big road map book and start judging distances. We quickly settled on Denver, about 9 hours away, booked a hotel, packed our bags and headed out. We drove all night and enjoyed the sights of Denver all weekend. We went to a Rockies game at Coors Stadium (Such an exciting game!! Rocks scored the winning run in the 9th inning after some major back-and-forth with the SD Padres. Of course, at about the 6th inning K pulled out his phone and played virtual Risk for the rest of the game, but I enjoyed the it.), we saw Up! (ah-maz-ing), and just enjoyed the sites. It's a beautiful town. Unfortunately what we didn't do a lot of was picture-taking, but here's what we did snap...
