on a bicycle built for two

This is my [beloved/aforementioned/12-year-old girlish] bike. And me. And Av. And Av's cruiser/stroller-thing. Just thought I'd share a pic of me and my favorite posession/mode of transportation/ode to as close as an almost-25-year-old woman should ever come to something so juvenille and bubble-gum pink.

And they lived happily ever after...

Today my little girl turned two! I can't believe it!...then again... well, she certainly has the sass of a two-year-old. But man has time flown. Her Grandma and Great-Grandma Clark as well as her Uncle Adam and Zach all came from out of town to spend the weekend with her. Then today lots of our friends and family were able to come to her fairy tale-themed birthday party. It was so much fun!!

I'm not going to say that two years ago today was the happiest day of my life- Klayton actually likes to joke that it was the worst day of his life because of how scary everything was- but it was the beginning of the most wonderful and fulfilling time in my life so far. Being Avery's mom is what I was meant to do. She is the best kid in the whole world and I love her so much. She makes every day special.

impatience

I can't wait! Summer is coming and there are so many things I'm counting down toward. I generally try to live in the now, enjoy today, and all that garbage, but around this time (okay, so it started two months ago) I always get antsy for Summer. Here are just a few of the things I am (impatiently) waiting for:

-Disneyland! We are going to the beach with my family at the end of next month and my mom has decided we have to take Avery to Disneyland. She is going to flip out. I hope to capture it on film. She (like her lame mom) is a Disney-holic. Not only does she love Mickey and Goofy and Donald and all those dudes, but she already knows Hannah Montana (pronounced Hah-Tana in Av-speak) and can sing-along with half of the theme songs on Playhouse Disney.

-Gardening (mostly eating what comes out of my garden). For Mother's Day I am getting the rest of the crap I need to start my very first garden! I'm sure I'll post pictures... unless I kill everything in the first month... which I'm not ruling out at this point...

-A trip to the Playmill Theater. Such a fun place. They are doing Footloose this year and I'm going to get my angry-dance on.

-Family bike rides. We finally got a baby trailer thingy to hook Av up to my bike! It's awesome. When we were in Vegas a couple of weeks ago we stole an old bike for Klayton from my parents. Now he's biking to work and Av and I are biking to the library and our car looks like a monument to lame Toyotas in our garage. Okay, so I'm not looking forward to this one since we're already biking it up, but I'm looking forward to a lot more of it!

-The end of Fat Camp. I joined a city-wide weight-loss contest two weeks ago with my friend, Ashley. It ends on June 1st and I cannot wait! Not that I hate having the motivation to step away from chocolate and embrace green-leafy veggies, but it's actually pretty stressful! When (notice I said WHEN not IF- Klayton is always trying to convince me of the power of positive thinking) Ashley and I win (the 1st and 2nd place prize is a bunch of cash) we are going to Las Vegas on vacation. We made t-shirts and everything to keep us motivated. It's a blast and I already lost 6 pounds in the first week! Whoot whoot! haha. Weigh-in #2 is tonight... dun dun duuuuuuuun (foreboding music)!!!

-IF Downtown. The Duck Races. The Farmer's Market. The kids workshops. The walks along the river. The 4th of July parade (and the 5k beforehand). The festivals. The fun. I love my town in the summer, especially our new house which is a stone's throw (or a super-quick bike ride) from all of the festivities. We are lucky ducks.

invitation

If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer . . .
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!
